KUALA LUMPUR, March 23 — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today suggested that the federal government should give finacial support to Malaysians who are affected by Covid-19 during this period of Movement Control Order (MCO) from the nation’s reserves, but not from Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) savings.
In a live video address posted on his Facebook page, PKR president urges Putrajaya to use the huge reserves that Malaysia already has. “Whether the government’s or Petronas’, in order to save the people in the current situation.”
Anwar also added that people’ s future would be affected if the government allow them to withdraw their savings now.
“This is savings for their future,” Anwar said.
“I don’t feel everyone would be taking their savings out, but I feel the government must reconsider. Do not burden them,” he said.
