PUTRAJAYA: The government would use its military if the public continued to ignore the restriction of movement order (RMO) or refuse to stay home these two weeks, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“During the first day of the movement restriction on Wednesday (18 March), only about 60% of Malaysians complied with the order.
“If the RMO is still not under control, then we will most likely have to use our military,” he told reporters at a press conference here today.
In another development, Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohd Fahmi Visuvanathan Abdullah said last night that many civilians were defying the movement control order. Most of them gave silly reasons when they were stopped at roadblocks.
“The directive was issued to curb the spread of Covid-19, but they take it lightly. Some said that they were just having an outing, there are also some who said that they wanted to buy food, deliver items and many other absurd reasons.
“We prefer to remind the public that the order has been enforced rather than taking action against them so please be aware of it,” he said told Bernama .
