PKR President Anwar Ibrahim has today withdrawn his bid for the next prime minister of Malaysia in a move to save the nation from the old regime, Barisan Nasional (BN) and the Islamic party the PAS that want to take over the government.
Earlier, he has thrown his support behind Dr Mahathir though Pakatan Harapan (PH) nominated him personally as the candidate for Malaysia’s next Prime Minister.
Anwar told the media he had to sacrifice for the nation and stop the struggle for power.
PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) has this morning handed in a statutory declaration to the king, stating Pakatan Harapan has named Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as their candidate for Prime Minister.
“I will be taking a step back and have named Tun Mahathir as our candidate for Prime Minister so that we can avoid the country being further dragged into this power struggle and into an old system which has been rejected by the people.
“May Allah bless our efforts to save the country and give attention to activities that can restore the economy,” he said.
