KUALA LUMPUR: PAS sees DAP as a threat to the country`s stability and it is campaigning against its inclusion in the new government.
PAS accuses DAP of causing communal friction in the country, according to a report by the Malay Mail news portal.
PAS Information Chief Kamaruzaman Mohamad said today his party backed Dr Mahathir to serve for a full term because they wanted to save the country from instability.
“However, PAS is firm that if a new government is formed, it must be without the involvement of DAP that has threatened national harmony and stability.
“This is based on DAP’s extreme actions that clearly jeopardised harmony, stability, fanned racial friction and went against the constitution throughout the PH administration,” he said in a statement.
Dr Mahathir had unexpectedly resigned yesterday after receiving majority support from almost 131 MPs including PMs from Bersatau, PAS, UMNO, GPS, and PKR Azmin faction who wanted to form a new government headed by him.
The new coalition government, which is called Harapan Nasional will not include PKR, DAP and Amanah.
After resigning, Dr Mahathir was appointed by the king as the caretaker prime minister until a new prime minister is chosen.
