1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB)`s current debts amount to RM50.5 billion, including interest, Minister of Finance Lim Guan Eng mentioned in a statement today.

It will take Malaysia government around 20 years to fully pay these debts.

“1MDB’s current debts stand at RM50.5 billion including interests, which will only be fully repaid in 2039.

“The government have to pay RM13.9 billion for 1MDB and SRC International Sdn Bhd’s debts from 2017 to 2020,” Lim said.

The ministry had paid RM6.7 billion in 2017 and RM2.1 billion last year for 1MDB and SRC.

Currently Malaysia government relies on  Tabung Harapan Malaysia (THM) fund, donation from the public, 1MDB asset recovery fund, and other resources to pay 1MDB debts.

Malaysian citizens have donated more than RM202.72 million as of Jan 14 this year through THM.

The Minister said the government has used up the entire donation money in the THM fund to pay 1MDB. – Malaysia World News
