BUSAN, Nov 25 — Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Malaysia always welcome foreign countries and investors who can contribute to the development of the country.
“We still welcome foreign investors.
“The fastest way to develop is by inviting foreign investment and acquiring technology,” he said in his speech at the Asean-South Korea Commemorative Summit here today,
The premier also showed interest in developing Malaysia so it can use modern technology and be part of the Fourth Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0).
“We may be behind many others but we intend to catch up.
“We need to educate the youths to become more familiar with the new values, the new strategies of doing things, and new kinds of businesses,” he said.
The Prime Minister arrived at Busan’s Gimhae Air Base is on a visit to South Korea to attend the ASEAN-South Korea Commemorative Summit 2019.
With the slogan “Partnership for Peace, Prosperity for People”, the Summit commemorates the 30th anniversary of ASEAN-South Korea dialogue relations.
This is the third time South Korea hosts a commemorative summit, having hosted the previous summits in Jeju in 2009 and in Busan in 2014.
All leaders in ASEAN are expected to attend this Summit which is scheduled to be held from 25th – 26th November 2019.
YAB Prime Minister will also participate in a dialogue session organised by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on “New Partnership for the Co-Prosperity of Korea and ASEAN Businesses” at the ASEAN-South Korea CEO Summit, an event that focuses on promoting regional business cooperation among entrepreneurs from ASEAN and South Korea.
