SHAH ALAM: Prime minister-in-waiting, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, there is no u-turn on him taking over as prime minister.

He said the transition issue was discussed at the presidential council meeting last Saturday and he expects a smooth, peaceful handover.

“The leadership will determine when the transition will take place.

“If it happens smoothly, it will be easier for Dr Mahathir to continue with his work and easier for me after the handover,” he added, as reported by The Star

Replying to a question from the media on whether he will like to become a Cabinet member before becoming the eighth PM. PKR president said he would not accept a Cabinet position (in the event of a reshuffle) before becoming the next Prime Minister.

“I have no such intention,” he told the media at the launch of the Reformist Convention 2019 here yesterday.

Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad had said that a Cabinet reshuffle would take place soon.
