KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pix) wonders and questions whether the “political” Islamic Party (PAS) leaders are really Muslims – good Muslims than any Muslims in the world – as they seems to be collaborating with thieves that were rejected by the society and the world.
He says Islam prohibits theft, but PAS cooperates with the previous administration (BN , UMNO) which is known to the world as a government of thieves.
“Now PAS continues to work with the (UMNO) people rejected by society for stealing,” he said in his latest posting on his blog chedet.cc titled Mendaulatkan Islam last night.
Dr Mahathir was commenting on the Ummah rally which was organized by PAS and UMNO on Saturday supposedly to defend the sanctity of Islam and the Constitution.
He remarked that the rally was aiming to draw support for certain political parties only, instead of defending the sanctity of Islam and the Constitution.
“I welcome gatherings by Muslims aimed at defending the sanctity of Islam and the Constitution, I fully support these noble aims.
“But I am wondering whether these were the real objectives or aimed at getting support for certain political parties.
“If it was to defend Islam, by right it should not have been limited to certain political parties (PAS and UMNO) only.
“The alliance of these parties does not reflect Islamic solidarity. In fact, it divides Muslims in Malaysia,” he added.
Mahathir said PAS collaborating with UMNO members whom it had earlier claimed were kafir (infidels) confused and split the Malays.
He said the Malays were following the Sunni (Sunnah Wal Jamaah) sect led by Imam Shafie, and they were united since ancient times, but they had split since the PAS was formed and claimed that Umno members were kafir for cooperating with the infidels,” he said.
Last time PAS deemed the people who joint UMNO as kafir if they joined Umno, he said.
‘’For PAS, a person who does not join PAS is an infidel. According to PAS, only PAS members are Muslims. Indeed, Muslims seeking asylum in non-Muslim countries have become infidels,’’ he said.
