USA government to work closely with  Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) – USA Ambassador to Malaysia

KUCHING: The US government is planning to strengthen and expand its future Pacific Partnership mission and commitments in Malaysia.

USA Ambassador to Malaysia, Her Excellency, Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir said, the Pacific Partnership mission aspires to cooperate with the local government, private agencies, NGOs and the public in a more complexed and complicated ways.

Elaborating on this, she said, the government will evaluate the Pacific Partnership 2019 mission and identify areas to to work closely with  Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF).

“We need to work with more people related in disaster response and engage with more partner nations in years to come.

“We would like the multi-lateral relationship that has been established with MAF through the Pacific Partnership mission be closer and stronger,” she told the local media on board the US humanitarian aid ship USNS Fall River here on Thursday (11th April).

The local journalists and participants of the Workshop on Role of Media in Covering Security Cooperation organised by US Embassy Kuala Lumpur and the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI)were invited for a tour of USNS Fall River.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Datuk Shuhaimi Mohd. Zuki from MAF said, the 12 days US humanitarian aid mission gave a lot of learning experiences and new exposures to the government, public and also the school children.

He said, the US and Malaysian armies from the engineering division have built a classroom for a school in Sarawak recently in the Pacific Partnership 2019.

“It is not so much about the classroom but more importantly the close relationship that has been fostered between the US armies with the school children.

“The message here is that “closeness and relationship” could be established regardless of race and nation,” said Suhaimi. -Malaysia World News
