KUALA LUMPUR: Nobody in Malaysia is above the law and action will be taken if Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim makes any seditious remarks, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad told reporters at a press conference at the Parliament lobby today (on Tuesday, April 9).
The Prime Minister said, Johor Crown Prince is, like any other Malaysian citizen, not above the law.
Tunku Ismail is free to criticize the Pakatan Harapan government, “but if he makes any seditious statements, we will take action against him,” said Dr Mahathir.
“He is a citizen of Malaysia, nothing more than that,” Dr Mahathir added.
According to the Star, Dr Mahathir’s remarks came following the confirmation of Datuk Osman Sapian’s resignation as the Johor mentri besar.
Prior to the announcement, Tunku Ismail said: “I hope the new mentri besar is not a ‘yes man’ of Putrajaya.”
Tunku Ismail has been criticizing Pakatan government’s move to accede to the Rome Statute.
