PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he would prefer Anwar Ibrahim to rule the country than Najib Razak.

In an exclusive interview with New Straits Times, Mahathir said it would be better if Anwar Ibrahim became a Prime Minister and took over power than to allow the former prime minister to continue administering the country.

“Between Najib and Anwar, I think Najib is a worse leader than Anwar.

“I thought that our working together was far more important, in order to displace Najib, than for us to quarrel because I knew if we didn’t work together, Najib would be the next prime minister and that would be disastrous for the country,” he was quoted as saying by local media.

There is an agreement between Dr. Mahathir and PKR that he will step down in two years time and hand power to Anwar Ibrahim to be the next Prime Minister of Malaysia.
