KUALA LUMPUR: While the Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad urges employers to provide better wages for their workers, he also urges the workers, especially Malaysian youths to be more productive if they want good pay.
“I urge all of you to have a stakeholder mindset. Pay your workers better if you make more profits.
“We noticed that the pay for the CEOs has been increasing multiple- fold, but workers’ wages have been slow to rise, if not stagnant. This is not right,” he said in his keynote address at Invest Malaysia 2019 here yesterday.
The Prime Minister also warns of the growing income gap which could create tension and hostility, and eventually lead to conflicts among Malaysians.
“We cannot have one group succeeding, dominating or monopolising everything while others lag behind.
“The gap between the haves and have-nots must be narrowed,” he was quoted as saying.
