KUALA LUMPUR: The decision on whether to shut down or sell the national carrier Malaysia Airlines (MAB) has not been reached yet, but it is under consideration and study.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said on yesterday the government was studying options for the national carrier, and a decision should be made “soon”, Reuters reported.
“It is a very serious matter to shut down the airline.
“We will nevertheless be studying and investigating as to whether we should shut it down or we should sell it off or we should refinance it.
“All these things are open for the government to decide,” Dr Mahathir was quoted saying at a press conference at Parliament.
