BN won Semenyih: Malays still like and support Umno and Najib

HULU LANGAT 2 MAC: Today Pakatan Harapan (PH) was slapped again when Barisan Nasional (BN) Zakaria Hanafi won the Semenyih by-election with 1,914 majority against its rival Muhammad Aiman Zainali.

Zakaria from UMNO (BN) garnered 19,780 votes while Muhammad Aiman from Bersatu (PH) took 17,866 votes.

Meanwhile Nik Aziz Afiq Abdul  from Parti Sosialis Malaysia grabbed 847 votes and Independent’s Kuan Chee Heng had only 725 votes.

The By-Election Management Officer, Datuk Mohd. Sayuti Bakar also announced that 73.24 percent from 53,411voters had casted their votes today while 650 votes were rejected.

The by-election result was announced at the Dewan Seri Cempaka, Kajang Town Council here at 9.20pm.

This was the second victory for BN after Cameron Highands by-election held on 26 January 2019 and since PH took over the government from BN on 9th May 2018.

The BN victory in the Semenyih by-election proved that the collaboration with PAS in its campaign against the PH candidate had won the hearts of the majority Malay voters.

The campaign ran by the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his supporters using the tagline “Bossku” in a way has also succeeded BN to take back Semenyih from PH

Umno acting president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan was quoted as saying this by-election ” is the real test. There are a mix of rural, semi-urban and urban and the majority of voters are from the Malay community.

“This is a good win for us, as it is reflective of the people’s regret and dissatisfaction with the Pakatan Harapan government… Many are not happy that promises were not fulfilled,” he said.

Meanwhile, former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak said, BN’s victory in Semenyih proves that Pakatan Harapan is focusing on the wrong thing

” They should focus on the people instead of attacking me.

“The people don’t want them to attack me, they want to know how the government will fulfill their promises,” Najib told reporters in Semenyih tonight.

Najib`s campaign has succeeded BN to win this by-election even though he was being attacked all long the campaign by Pakatan Harapan Leaders who were every day reminding voters of his alleged scandals and corruption.

Last night the Prime Minister Dr Mahathir said, he is surprised that Najib still has many supporters calling him ” bossku” although he is facing several money-laundering charges.

As for PH president, the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail,  PH leadership should sit down and discuss further on how to approach various issues.

“First of all, we need to learn from this defeat and look thoroughly on issues related to the people.

The Semenyih by-election was being called following the death of incumbent Bakhtiar Mohd. Nor (Bersatu) at the Kajang Hospital on January 11 due to a heart attack.

Before the by-election results for the Selangor State Assembly (DUN) for Semenyih were announced at 9.20pm, Aiman from PH did not appear when  Mohd. Sayuti invited all the candidates to come up on stage.
