KUALA LUMPUR 27 FEB: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urges the authorities to take strict and serious actions on the people who have humiliated the prophet Muhamad as it is of no benefit to the people and the country.
The PKR President said such actions could only be created by “foolish” people who do not represent any religion or racial groups.
“The Malay Muslims should not perceive this as the opinions and the perceptions of non muslims against Islam or Islamophobia.
“Those who have created such religious sentiments and hatred should be ready to face stern actions.
“Nobody like their religious faith to be humiliated by others,” said Anwar stating PKR and PH stand on religion at a press conference held in Utusan Melayu Group headquarters here today.
Anwar went to Utusan as a guest of honour for the Presentation of Literature Award Ceremony 2018 hosted by Utusan Melayu.
He also stressed that the people should not be swayed from the rights to freedom and liberalism as far as religion is concerned.
Earlier in his speech he said many of his supporters and PKR leaders have expressed their worries of him accepting Utusan’ invitation to the event.
He said Utusan does not belong to UMNO now and the event is not politically motivated but a social, educational and of humanitarian values.
Talking about his preparedness to be the next Prime Minister, Anwar said at the moment he takes the opportunity to listen to reports from all parties and meets Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad frequently.
“It is wrong for people to say that it will be a new government but instead it is the continuity based on Pakatan Harapan manifesto,” he said.
Anwar added, the focus may be different but the policies are the same.-Malaysia World News
