KUALA LUMPUR: The national problems will be solved when the Malay problems are being addressed and solved by the government, said Chairman of the Council of Eminent Persons of Pakatan Harapan (PH) Government, Tun Daim Zainuddin here today.
He said, the national problem is mainly related to the problems faced by the Malays as many of them are still poor.
“The Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad wants the Malays to change their minds and nothing can be changed and solved if they refuse to change.
“The country had been led by the Malays for 61 years and much assistance and aids have been given to them but still they cannot become successful.
“In a meeting recently the questions of why the Malays cannot be successful were raised and the main reason was that they wanted to become rich very fast. Hence, this has become the problem,” he said in “One Evening with Tun Daim Zainuddin and Rina Mohd. Harun” at the Sultan Sulaiman Club, Kampung Baru here today.
Daim also urged the audience to share experiences and ideas of how to tackle the problems of the Malays as only they themselves can help solve their own problems.
The former Minister of Finance in the Barisan Nasional (BN) government during Tun Mahathir’s regime in the 90’s also advised the Malays to have analytical thinking and read a lot to gain knowledge to be successful.
He said, to attain education until the university level (University Technology Mara) is not enough but most importantly is to be able to understand and analyse the effects and what will happen after doing something (taking a task).
Meanwhile Rina Mohd. Harun, the Minister of Rural and Regional Development of PH Government in her speech said, the problems of the Kampung Baru Malays amongst others are related to congestion, the growth of businesses and the influx of foreigners staying in that area.
She said, the problems have been raised in the first meeting between the Ministry and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and it will be reviewed and studied carefully. –Malaysia World News
