KUALA LUMPUR: With the tagline, “Defence and Commercial Connecting Intelligence,” the 15th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA ’19) held from 26-30 March 2019 will showcase 60 percent defence content and 40 percent for commercial segments.
Minister of Defence, Mohamad Sabu said, in response to the industry development, a range of programmes have been extended to increase participation in the commercial sector from the maritime and aerospace industries.
“The involvement of Ministry of Transport (MOT) since 2015 has changed the perception that LIMA is not only for defence industry but has expanded to the commercial maritime and aerospace segment,” he said in his speech at the official launching of LIMA’19 at Wisma Perwira, here today.
He said, the five day event that will be hosted at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre and Resort World Langkawi will witness the latest assets and technology displayed.
Mohamad foresees that LIMA’19 will contribute towards enhancing the cooperation between the local and international defence as well as commercial maritime and aerospace industries.
He anticipates the participation of more exhibitors, foreign delegates and countries alongside with tourists will help LIMA’19 to remain in the global events calendar.
Meanwhile Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EN Projects (M) Sdn. Bhd. Lt. General (Ret) Datuk Seri Sabri Adam said, LIMA’19 targets the participation of 600 companies; 14 country pavilions, 350 foreign delegations, more than 100 planes and 30 maritime assets.
Sabri also mentioned that 60 percent of the floor space has already been booked by local and international companies and the percentage is expected to increase in the next coming months. –Malaysia World News
