Zahid swears he did not beg for meeting PM Mahathir

PETALING JAYA: Umno’s Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic)  swears he did not beg for meeting the new Prime Minister Tun Mahathir.

He said former Umno division leader Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan was lying about him “begging” to meet with Tun Dr Mahathir.

“Wallahi Watallahi (I swear to God). I never begged and I did not ask to see Tun Dr Mahathir,” said Zahid in a statement.

“What I said to Umno members was the truth,” he said.

Khairuddin, who accused him of being a liar, was the one who contacted and arranged the meeting with Tun Dr Mahathir, he told Utusan Malaysia/ Utusan Online.

Zahid also claims that Dr Mahathir had asked Umno members of parliament to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi).
