KOTA KINABALU: Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (pic) Khairy claimed that Sabah and Sarawak were neglected by the former prime minister Dr Mahathir in his 22 years in office, and it was instead his successors who brought development to the two states.
Until now the ruling coalition is still “correcting the one-sided development of Malaysia”, which he claimed was a legacy of the former premier’s leadership, Khairy was quoted as saying by the Star.
“Now you have the Pan Borneo Highway, and increased investments in education in Sabah and Sarawak’s rural areas,”
“The development is no longer only enjoyed by those living in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya,” he said.
He also blamed Dr.Mahathir who he describes as a “dictator” for all the problems the nation faces today.
“We cannot possibly allow the man responsible for the problems we still face today to govern the country again.
“For those in the Opposition who claim he’s a changed man, he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Once a dictator, always a dictator,” Khairy said in a press conference at a hotel here on Saturday.
Khairy, who is also Barisan Nasional Youth chairman, also urged young Sabahans to do not be disillusioned with the opposition, vote for Barisan Nasional , and do not spoil their votes.
“Although it is within a voter’s right to spoil their vote, I hope they choose to give the mandate to Barisan,” he said.
