SERDANG: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi invites the people of Bagan Datoh, Perak including their siblings and relatives to stay and develop the district as the Federal Government has allocated RM2.3 billion for its developmental projects.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Member of Parliament for Bagan Datoh constituency, said the allocation is to support the families of the Malays, Chinese, Indians and others to develop and participate in Bagan Datoh’s economic and developmental programmes.
“I have just attended the TN50 programme. I requested the children, parents, and grandchildren of the people in Bagan Datoh to come back, register and cast their votes in Bagan Datoh as it offers a lot of economic opportunities for the future generation.
“Nevertheless, the physical (economic) achievements will have to be balanced with spiritual development,” he said at a luncheon with the Deputy Prime Minister, held at MAEPS, here on Sunday.
Also present, Ahmad Zahid’s wife Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis and 3,000 guests including TN50 participants and UMNO members from all over the country.
He added, recently Bagan Datoh has its District Councils and together with the existing District Office will make it an excellent place for development especially to the people registered as voters.
Ahmad Zahid also emphasized that the TN50 has considered the voices of the young generation for the next 32 years.
The Prime Minister also stressed that the people of Bagan Datoh should develop local products and participates in the small and medium enterprises (SME) programmes and emerge as global players in the near future.
Bagan Datoh also aims to send its athlete to participate in the Olympic Games and as such Ahmad Zahid said, RM250, 000 has been allocated to develop sports talents.
At the function, veteran singer Datuk M.Daud Kilau for the first time sang the tagline song of Bagan Datoh with other local singers. The logo competition (Bagan Datuk Ori) that was won by the Bagan Datoh Fama Office took away the cash prize of RM10, 000.
Meanwhile, in the lucky draw segment, six people won a motorcycle each and the replica keys were handed to them by Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
