Dr. Mahathir not for power but for the future of this country – Wan Azizah

Former prime minister  Dr. Mahathir Mohamad said yesterday he was seeking to return as Prime Minister not out of the desire for power but out of necessity.

“I have been Prime Minister for 22 years, it is not my intent to become Prime Minister again, 22 years has been enough,” he said.

Pakatan Harapan chairperson, Dr. Mahathir also added that he had joined forces with (the opposition party) his former rivals only to save Malaysia from the Prime Minister Najib Razak.

“That` s why we have set aside our differences to join forces and form Pakatan Harapan,” He said this at his ceramah campaign in Kamuting, Perak last night.

Present at the ceramah were also Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, PKR President Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, PPBM President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin, President Amanah Mohamad Sabu, and MP Taiping Nga Kor Meng.

Wan Azizah said in her speech at the main event that their “struggle is not for positions, but for the future of this country.”

Supporting Dr. Mahathir, Lim Guan Eng pointed at the ceremah that “he (Dr. Mahathir) wants to return as prime minister to correct the current government `s wrongs,” and not “to ride on executive jets, walk on red carpets, and dine at palaces across the world.”

PH claimed that 10,000 attended the ceremah, however some quarters said only 2,000 people were present there.
