We don`t want those who try to destroy our culture, says Exco Youth Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS)

KOTA KINABALU, Sabah:  Living in harmony despite differences, diverse cultures and religions, is the culture and beauty of Sabahans.

Exco Youth Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Division Chief of Tanjung Batu, Tawau, Jhasarry P. Kang said every culture has differences and this will not be a disadvantage because everybody wants to live in peace and harmony.

All Sabah people (Bugis, Malays, Kadazans, and the Chinese) have lived here together in peace and harmony for many decades.

“There is a culture of mixed marriages in Sabah, and nobody can dispute about the races here.

“Some sections of the society have raised some disputes while talking about differences,’ he added.

Jhasarry told MWN while attending Christmas Open House at the residence of PBS Secretary-General and State Assembly Deputy Speaker, Datuk Johnny Mositun at Kampung Sungkadon, Papar recently.

“The differences are not new in Sabah. It cannot be a problem for Sabahan, instead it is the beauty of Sabah as a whole,” he said.

The people in Sabah have lived in peace and harmony since PBS was established 33 years ago. Since then it has been the traditional practice that the people from different races and cultures celebrate together all the festivals in Sabah.

“We want our generation to continue living in peace and harmony, and we do not want those who try to destroy our culture in Sabah,” Jhasarry added.

Asked about the upcoming General Election (GE14), Jhasarry said it will be tough, but Barisan Nasional (BN) will win in Sabah as it has been historically proven for a long time.

He also added, PBS will continue to survive as it represents multi-cultural races, upholds the rights of each race, and takes care of their needs in the divisions as well as other areas in Sabah.

“PBS has served the people of Sabah for 33 years, and it will continue to be relevant in future because many youths are participating in the party,” Jhasarry said.
