PM Najib: Palestine-Israel conflict should be resolved through bilateral negotiations

ISTANBUL:  The decision of the United States of America (USA) to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to relocate its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem has undermined all efforts toward comprehensive just and durable solutions to the Palestine-Israel conflicts.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said, the final status of Al Quds Al Sharif should not be decided on a unilateral recognition but resolved through bilateral negotiations between Palestine and Israel.

“Muslim brothers and the international community must work together to ensure the status of Al Quds Al Sharif is negotiated within the framework of a two state solution.

“While working together, other countries must be dissuaded from falling suit in proclaiming the city as Israel’s capital,” he said in his speech at the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Summit in Istanbul, Turkey on Wednesday.

Najib said that firmly on Malaysia’s stand while condemning and totally rejecting the unilateral decision made by the US to recognise Jerusalem as capital of Israel.

The Prime Minister also added, recognising Al Quds Al Sharif as the capital of Israel is only “adding fuel” to what is already a combustible situation.

Najib then urged all 57 members of OIC to be united and reject any effort to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

He also said, the process of peace in West Asia should be done pragmatically based on the laws and international norms. –Malaysia World News
