Malaysians like to travel to Japan to escape the heat

KUALA LUMPUR:  Sapporo (Japan) has been identified as the most popular up-and-coming destination of choice for Malaysian travelers, an Agoda survey reveals.

Sapporo December 2016 bookings experienced a rapid growth of 145% amongst Malaysians.

Malaysians like to travel to Sapporo, Japan to escape the heat, besides enjoying a variety of delicious Japanese dishes.

It’s easy to see why this winter wonderland is becoming more popular with Malaysians looking to escape the heat and hit the slopes, a PRNewswire press release said.

“Travelers from Malaysia want variety when they’re abroad, so there are a diverse group of destinations emerging as year-end holiday hot spots,” said Andrew Edwards, Global Director for Brand and Communications at Agoda.

Famous for its high quality seafood, Sapporo is a foodie’s paradise for the 73% of Malaysian millennial travelers who chose food and dining as one of their preferred travel experiences.

Besides the local favorites, other up-and-coming destinations among Malaysian travelers for year-end holidays include Japan’s Sapporo, Taiwan’s Taichung, Nantou and Taipei and the United Kingdom’s London.
