KUALA LUMPUR 7 May – Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) has started the “Tabung Pahlawan” campaign earlier this month instead of July with a flash mob launched at Central Market here today.
The one-hour flash mob was highlighted by a live band and a dancing performance from the ATM group representing the Malaysian Army, Royal Malaysian Navy, Malaysian Air Force and staff from the public services department.
Head of Strategic Communication, Strategic Communication Unit, Adreena Abdul Majid said, in previous years the campaign started in July but this time it was from May until December 2017.
“This is the Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein’s initiative and request upon us to start the campaign in May instead of July. The campaign starts two months earlier so that the RM5 million targets for this year can be achieved,” she told reporters at the Central Market today.
According to Adreena, this year ATM started the campaign with a flash mob to show public’s support in contributing to the fund.
More similar flash mobs will be held at other shopping complexes soon.
Asked what are the other activities promoting the campaign, Adreena said the campaign will be launched officially by the patron of the “Tabung Pahlawan” Campaign, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansur on 31st July 2017.
“Proceeds to the fund will be channeled to the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association or Persatuan Veteran Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (PVATM).
“The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) takes care of the welfare of army veterans through PVATM which has 376,000 members up to date,” she added.
Members of the public who wish to contribute to Tabung Pahlawan can do so through Persatuan Veteran Angkatan Tentera Malaysia via Maybank account number (564717521826) and CIMB Bank (8602700401).
