Alor Setar – Thirty-two young officers of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) received their Air Force Flight Wings in a full military honour at the Flight Wings Presentation Parade held in Padang Kawad, Kolej Tentera Udara (KTU) here recently.
From the grand total, 19 of them had completed their Basic Flying Course 78/15 Series while 13 had completed Basic Course Transitions Helicopter 57/16 Series.
The Basic Flying Course Series this time was attended by the Young Air Force Officers at the Flying Training Centre (PLTB) KTU which began from June 2015 until April 2017.
For this training session, Lt. Izzatikhmal Dzulhelmi Dzulkflee (RMAF) was announced as the Best Academic Trainee and received Commander Education and Air Exercise Trophy while Lt. Abdul Samad Daud (RMAF) won the Best Fixed Flight Wing Student and received Commander Air Force Trophy and Lt. Aslam Hairi Abdul Rashid (RMAF) took the Best Overall Helicopter Trainee award and received the Nuri Trophy.
The Air Force Flight Wings and awards were presented to the officers by Air Force Commander General Datuk Seri Affendi Buang (RMAF).
Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Commander Air Force, Lieutenant General (Lt. Gen.) Datuk Seri Ackbal Abdul Samad (RMAF); Commander Air Operation Lt. Gen. Datuk Seri Abdul Mutalib Datuk Ab. Wahab (RMAF), Commander Air Support, Lt. Gen. Datuk Paduka Wan Normazlan Che Jaafar (RMAF), Commander Education and Air Exercise, Major General Datuk Romlee Yahaya (RMAF) and senior officers of RMAF.
Meanwhile the RMAF in a statement said, the courses were to empower RMAF and preparing young pilots to be successors who will defend the sovereignty of the country’s airspace.
“The training was focused on strengthening the basics of flying to prepare pilots to face challenges when handling an aircraft “state of the art” following the development of the globe’s aviation.
“To provide trainers with high calibre and excellent records to ensure the standards of future pilots are at the highest level and serve as exemplary to pilot trainees,’’ said the statement.
