KUALA LUMPUR 10 Mar -The 11 Malaysian diplomats who have been barred from leaving Pyongyang, North Korea this week are confirmed all safe and nothing to worry about.
Malaysians in North Korea are allowed to carry on their lives as normal, there is no threat to their safety, Malaysia`s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak told reporters at Parliament lobby yesterday.
“They are not being held in custody, we are not worried about their safety,” he said.
Najib also added that Malaysia is one of the few countries that has been very fair to North Korea and friendly with them. But when the crime has been committed using a chemical weapon, we are bound to protect our country.
Malaysia needs to negotiate with Pyongyang, and figure out what exactly North Korea demands, says Najib.
Both North Korea and Malaysia have recently expelled each other ambassadors and barred each other`s citizens from leaving to their countries.
Diplomatic row has been escalating between the two countries in the fallout over the killing of Kim Jong-Nam, the half-brother of North Korea Leader, on 13 February._ Malaysia World News
