Round 3 of the 2016 Pirelli Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) with a good grip of their respective championships; but fully aware that their positions could be potentially overturned this weekend.
Competing under the banner of Team Project X, Ahmad Fuad, who has garnered 77 points after two rounds, holds a seven-point advantage over former Australian Superbike champion, Cameron Donald in the Superbike Championship.
Younger brother and team-mate Ahmad Nashrul enjoys a bigger advantage at the top of the Superstock Championship; holding a 13-point advantage over his other Team Project X racing partner, Mohd Radzi Omar. After two rounds of competition, Nashrul has 91 points with Radzi collecting 78 championship points.
As seasoned racers, the Baharudin Brothers, however, will be first to acknowledge that the situation could easily change over the weekend with a total of 50 championship points up for grabs; over two gruelling races in deciding the top point earners for Round 3.
The battle for this season’s overall title is even more challenging with Round 4 and 5 to be run on the same weekend in December; offering substantial points to be racked up.
The 600cc Supersport Championship Class A is currently topped by Germany’s Ismael Smajli, who has 90 points, while M. Iqbal Quzaimy had a strong lead in Class B with 100 points. The Open 250 class is led by Khairul Anwar Jamil for the A class and Class B has Zhafir Zhakasha Zamani on top of the standings. – Malaysiaworldnews.com
