ASEAN Skills Competition 2016 to be held in Malaysia soon

ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC) 2016 will take place from 23th to 28th September 2016 in Malaysia, at Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). It is  organized by the Department of Skills Development (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran), Ministry of Human Resource (Kementerian Sumber Manusia)and Public Works Department (Kementerian Kerja Raya). The 11TH ASEAN Skill Competition 2016 will take place in conjunction with the Karnival dan Ekspo Kemahiran Kebangsaan (KEKK) 2016.

Bermaz Motor SdnBhd is proud to announce that it will be sponsoring the ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC) 2016 with a total of 6 units of Mazda3. Four units of theMazda3s’ will be used in ASC’s nationwide awareness campaign road show and two units will be used in the competition to assess the skills and aptitude of the finalists.

Participating finalists come from neighbouring countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The nine finalists’ of the Automobile Technology sector will be assessed based on five specific skill areas, as adopted from World Skills Competition(WSC) 2015. The skill areas being tested are (i) Engine Management System, (ii) gearbox, (iii) steering, suspension& brake systems, (iv) engine overhauling and (v) body electrical system.Finalists will be assessed over a duration of 3 days with a total of 15 hours(3 hours per skill areas).

Bermaz has always been an advocate of the youth’s skills development, especially in meeting the growing demands of the motoring industry. The Mazda Apprenticeship Program (MAP), an automotive skills training program for school leavers with SPM/SPV, was precisely established in the year 2010 for this objective.  Graduates from the MAP are awarded with the Malaysia Skill Certificate (Level 3, K-Worker from Department of Skills Development), Diploma in the Institute of Motor Industry Awards Limited (IMIAL- UK) and Mazda Master Level F. Selected candidates are entitled to full scholarship by Bermaz Motor and guaranteed employment under the Company for a minimum of three years. Graduates are then employed by Bermaz as technicians in Mazda’s After Sales Service Centres throughout Malaysia.
