KUALA LUMPUR MAR.12: The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) imposed on the Moral Correctional Centre Batu Gajah and Staff Quarters, Kinta Perak will be lifted tomorrow, 13th March as scheduled.
Senior and Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the Ministry of Health (MOH) had carried out 774 screening tests and out of which 457 cases had been reported.
“To date MOH confirmed the COVID-19 cases had been reduced, clusters under control and all the positive and close contacts had been separated,” said Ismail in a statement here today.
He added, after a risk analysis with several agencies in the Technical Committee of the MCO had been carried out and with the advice of MOH, the government agreed to end the EMCO at the Centre and the staff quarters tomorrow.
Regarding foreign workers Ismail said yesterday 4,496 foreign workers had been screen tested and out of which 39 were detected with positive COVID-19.
According to the Ministry of Human Resources, 608,093 foreign workers had been screen tested involving 31,682 employers.
“From that 9,653 had been infected with positive COVID-19 while 598,440 were negative. To date, 1,520 clinics were involved in the screening programme that was made compulsory on all foreign workers effective 1st February 2021,” said Ismail.-Malaysia World News
