UMNO, PAS urge court’s decision on the use of “Allah” and 3 other words to be referred to Court of Appeal

KUALAL LUMPUR – Muafakat Nasional (MN) in its monthly meeting held yesterday evening (10th March) urged the decision of the High Court on the use of Islamic kalimah (words) to be referred to the Court of Appeal.

MN in its statement yesterday said, MN looks seriously on the High Court’s decision for allowing non-Muslims to use Islamic kalimah in their publications.

The meeting also urged the Federal Government to take the initiative to expedite the implementation of a more harmonised legal system within the Federal Constitution framework.

MN in the meeting had also taken a stand to continuously strengthen the ties between the two parties namely UMNO and PAS.

The meeting was attended by leaders from both parties with UMNO headed by the Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan while PAS was led by its Deputy President Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and other leaders from both parties.

The High Court here yesterday had made a verdict that Christians nationwide can use the word “Allah,” Baitullah, Kaabah and solat in their religious publications for educational purposes.

The decision follows when Court of Appeal Judge, Datuk Nor Bee Ariffin, sitting as High Court Judge allowing a judicial review application by Sarawak native Christian, Jill Ireland Lawrence Bill. –Malaysia World News
