COVID-19: Students from red zones have to register online

KUALA LUMPUR SEPT.27: The face to face registration of new and old students of the Institutions of Higher Learning scheduled this October has to be postponed due to the rise of red zones in several districts in the country.

Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Dr. Noraini Ahmad said, the students from the red zones are required to register online and they can return to the campuses by adhering to the standard operating procedure (SOP) once the COVID-19 situations have recovered at their hometowns.

 

“To date, there are five red zones namely Kota Setar, Lahad Datu, Kunak, Semporna, and Tawau. However, students who are not residing in the red zones can return to their campuses as normal following their institutions’ academic calendar,” said Noraini in a statement here today.

 

She added, any enquiries pertaining to the movement back to the campuses, the teaching and learning sessions should be referred to the related Institutions of Higher Learning.

 

Noraini said the Ministry of Higher Education has been directed that all Institutions of Higher Learning have to implement the academic activities in the campus following the SOPs that have been set besides prioritising the safety measures.

 

She added students are advised to consistently take precautionary measures by frequently washing their hands, wearing face masks, and adhering to social distancing.-Malaysia World News
