COVID-19: Two new clusters formed; MV Glen in Selangor and “Telaga” in Kedah

PUTRAJAYA AUG.30: -Malaysia has recorded 17 new COVID-19 cases today with 15 imported from abroad and two local transmissions.

Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, with the additional 15 cases the cumulative total of corona virus infections went up to 9.334 cases while seven cases were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and five needed respiratory aids.

He added, 10 cases were discharged from the hospitals and recorded a cumulative total of 9,048 cases or 96.94%.

However he said there was one death case bringing the death toll to 126 or 1.35%. The dead aged 75 had diabetes, hypertension, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and heart disease.

Meanwhile, 160 cases were active and treated in the hospitals nationwide.

“The 15 imported new COVID-19 cases include 12 in Kuala Lumpur involving nine (9) Malaysians returning from India, two (2) from Saudi Arabia and one (1) non-Malaysian from Japan in “Cluster Alam” in Sarawak.

“The COVID-19 victims from Kuala Lumpur have been taken to the Sungai Buloh Hospital while the non Malaysian was taken to Bintulu Hospital for treatment,” said Dr. Noor Hisham in a press statement here today.

Dr. Noor Hisham said, the two local transmissions involving Malaysians include one close contact case was detected positive COVID-19 and that had recorded the 9,286 case thus creating a new MV Glen Cluster.

He added, in Kedah, one close contact case was also tested positive COVID-19 and that made the 9,284 case and had formed the new “Telaga Cluster”.-Malaysia World News
