KUALA LUMPUR: The Muafakat Nasional (MN) that was established by both UMNO and Pas is now becoming stronger and significant with the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) joining them on August 18, 2020.
Joint -Secretary General of MN, Tan Sri Annuar Musa who is also the Secretary-General of Barisan Nasional said, the official letter signed by the President of BERSATU, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin joining MN has been received on August 18.
“The MN that was jointly chaired by the Deputy President of UMNO and Deputy President of PAS, together with the Steering Committee Members of MN had earlier discussed in detail about BERSATU joining MN.
“Following the discussion, a letter was sent to BERSATU on August 13 and after five days the letter of acceptance signed by Muhyiddin had been received,” said Annuar in a statement here on Wednesday (Aug.18).
Meanwhile the political bureaus had discussed the latest development on August 23, and the meeting was attended by State Chairman of the Communication Unit /BN State Chairman.
Musa added, UMNO is aware and takes seriously on the efforts to unite the Malays and build the strength of the Muslim Malay community as it is one of the responsibilities and priorities that has become the basic struggle of UMNO.
“On that principle, UMNO has agreed to accept the participation of BERSATU and wish to see the unity of the Malays will be stronger and in line with the MN Charter that was enshrined before.
The statement added, both UMNO and Pas were very committed and had established the Muafakat Nasional (MN) concept after realizing the Muslim Malays political hold in the country had been weak following the serious “breaking up” amongst them.
Since its establishment, the MN had been welcomed by the Malaysians from all races and this had been proven with many successes recorded in several state assembly by-elections that were held recently.-Malaysia World News
