KUALA LUMPUR AUG 10: Malaysia is consistently playing an active role in the effort to find a fair and permanent solution on Palestine-Israel conflict specifically towards building Palestine as a country that is independent with sovereignty.
Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said, Malaysia strongly believes that the best solution for the Palestine-Israel conflict could be achieved through negotiations to ensure peacefulness, safety and a permanent stability in the region.
Hishammuddin added, Malaysia will continue to cooperate with other countries to fight for the Palestinians in various forms including bilateral and multi-lateral.
“In the Emergency Meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) –“Open Ended Virtual Extraordinary Meeting of Foreign Ministers” that was held virtually on 10th June, 2020, Malaysia and other member countries repeatedthe support for Palestine and condemned Israel’s cruelty to annex the West Bank that belongs to Palestine.
“The meeting also agreed on consensus that all OIC member countries will apply the OIC Resolutions on the threats of the Israeli Occupation Government to Annex Parts of State of Palestine’s territory occupied in 1967,” said Hishammuddin at the Dewan Rakyat here on Monday (Aug.10).
Hishammuddin elaborated the OIC’s stand on Palestine-Israel conflict in his reply to Tuan Nik Mohamad Abdul Nik Abdul Aziz (MP Bachok) who wanted to know the kind of efforts made by OIC and other global bodies to stop the annexation plan of Israel on the West Bank.
The Foreign Minister also mentioned that the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the 36th ASEAN Summit Meeting on June 28, 2020 through video conferencing had appealed to the Security Council of the United Nations to oppose the Israel’s plan to annex part of the West Bank territory.
“On the request of the Palestine Government, the Prime Minister had recorded avideo on July 2, 2020 stating the support to Palestine relating the decision of Israel to annex part of the West Bank.
“The Government of Palestine informed that the recorded statement of Malaysian Prime Minister will be broadcasted with other videos of support fromother world leaders,” Hishammuddin reiterated.-Malaysia World News
