TANGKAK: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic middle) reiterated today that it’s not time for politics now and that he has more important things to do at this time of Covid-19 pandemic and economic crisis than to sit down politicking.
He said he is “not interested in playing politics at the moment” as he has bigger issues to deal with.
He was responding to questions by the local media on why he did not comment on the current political situation in the country or reply to his critics comments.
“People have asked me why I did not say anything or comment about the current political situation. But this is not the time…
“The priority for me now is to take care of the welfare and health of the people and the development of the country and economy,” he said in a speech at a meet-the-people session at Dewan Serbaguna Bukit Gambir here today.
Commenting on the current economic situation, Muhyiddin said: “Our economy lost RM2.4 billion a day during the Movement Control Order (MCO
“During one National Economic Action Council (NEAC) meeting, Bank Negara governor (Datuk Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus) told us worrying news that, if the economy is not reopened soon, the country’s banking system would collapse and Malaysia would suffer a loss of RM1 trillion.
“That is why we took the bold decision to reopen the economy in stages,”he said.
So far, about 95 per cent of the country’s economy has reopened, he added.
