PUTRAJAYA JUNE 24: The organization of wedding or engagement ceremony, holding Islamic religious events such as “aqiqah , doa, tahlil” and hosting birthday, anniversary and reunion parties are allowed by the government effective July 1.
Security and Senior Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the social events could only be held for three to five hours depending on the organization and the space capacity of 250 persons present at any one time.
“The capacity depends on the size and the availibity of space for social distancing,” Ismail said in the press conference held here today.
Ismail added, the food at the event should be served and if it is a buffet, the food should be served by the waiter/waitress.
Amongst the standard operating procedure (SOP) to be complied with include taking the body temperature of guests not exceeding 37.5 Celsius, the organizers and guests should wear face masks, the guests should be registered using MySejahtera apps for record purposes in case any infection is detected.
However, Ismail advised the people not to organize event that is difficult to monitor the situation especially when movements of guests are hard to control.
Meanwhile the government has also allowed the Muslims to carry out the sacrifices activities (korban) in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha that falls at the end of July.
Ismail said, the “korban” activities could be held in all mosques, “surau” and areas permitted by the Religious Authorities in the Federal Territories.
“The Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM) has prepared the SOP for the “korban” rituals and could be referred to by other states.
“Apart from the permissions given to the related parties to organize the “korban” rituals, 28 slaughter houses of the Veterinary Services Department (DVS) and 31 Private Ruminant Slaughter Houses that are licensed by DVS are also permitted to slaughter the animals.
“Organizers should report the “korban” activities to the nearest District Health Office (PKH),” Ismail reiterated.
However Ismail said, not more than 30 people are in charge for one cow in the “korban” activities.
Ismail also reminded that the process for cutting and distributing the beef should be conducted in a suitable open place by avoiding 3C; confined place, congested area and close conversation.
The SOP includes, checking the body temperature, hands sanitizing and recording the presence of guests. Persons on duty should be healthy without symptoms of COVID-19 and not in the chronic illnesses category, and children under 12 should not be allowed to attend the event.
Ismail added the persons on duty should register via MySejahtera apps, social distancing should be complied, wearing face masks and hand gloves.
The Senior Minister also encouraged the people to use instruments and modern system like the “slaughter cage” to slaughter the animals. –Malaysia World News
