KUALA LUMPUR: Senior Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had extended his condolences to the families of the three Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) personnel who were killed in the road accident at Jalan Ranau-Kota Kinabalu on Tuesday (June 23).
“The accident had caused RMN to lose three staffs and had affected the armed forces’ team as a whole,” Ismail said in a statement yesterday.
However Ismail hoped the staff that was injured and undergoing treatment in Ranau Hospital to recuperate the soonest.
Following the fatal accident, Ismail had directed the ministry and the RMN to study all kinds of assistance to be channelled to the affected families to help lessen their burden.
Earlier the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) in a statement had confirmed three of its staffs had been killed in a road accident involving a three tonne vehicle belonging to RMN at Jalan Ranau-Kota Kinabalu on June 22.
According to the statement, the accident happened at 1.00 pm when the vehicle lost control and hit the road side. It was on its way from RMN Base in Sandakan to RMN Base in Kota Kinabalu, Teluk Sepanggar .
Besides three killed in the tragic road accident, one navy staff was injured and taken to the Ranau Hospital for treatment.
The three dead include Senior Lascar PAP Maslim Abdul Rahim, Lascar Class 1 TNL Mohamad Firdaus Mat Izan and Lascar Class 1 TMK, Muhammad Arif Idris while Lascar Class 11 TLR Vincent M. Orel was injured.-Malaysia World News
