GENEVA: As many countries started to ease lockdown restrictions, open businesses and borders, and allow people to go out, gather and work as normal, World Health Organization (WHO) yesterday sent a very urgent warning to everyone in every country.
“The world is in a new and dangerous phase.
“The virus is still spreading fast, it is still deadly, and most people are still susceptible, ” WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a press conference here yesterday.
Tedros, therefore, urges people to maintain social distancing and be very vigillant.
WHO warning came as a large number of new Covid-19 cases have been detected in Americas, South Asia and the Middle East.
Brazil had recorded 1,230 additional COVID-19 deaths in the previous 24 hours.
The coronavirus pandemic is accelerating in the USA, with Thursday’s 150,000 new cases the highest in a single day.
