PUTRAJAYA JULY 24: Malaysia has recorded 15,902 as its highest daily new COVID-19 cases today bringing the cumulative total to 996,398 with 184 deaths adding to the grand total to 7,902 or 0.79 per cent.
Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, from the new cases, 260 (1.6 per cent) were from category 5 (critical and in need of respiratory assistance) 129 (0.8 per cent) from category 4 (pneumonia and need oxygen aids), 127 cases (0.8 per cent) category 3 (pneumonia), 6,901 (43.4 per cent) category 2 (mild symptoms) and 8,485 (53.4 per cent) category 1 (no symptoms).
“On the whole when they were newly diagnosed, 3.2 per cent of the cases reported today were in categories 3, 4 and 5,” Dr. Noor Hisham said in a statement here today.
Dr. Noor Hisham added from the total of deaths today 87 cases were from Selangor, Kedah (17), Pahang (16), Negeri Sembilan (15), Kuala Lumpur (13), Johor (10), Sabah (8), Melaka (7), Pulau Pinang (6), Terengganu (3) and Sarawak (2).
Meanwhile, 9,471 were discharged adding the cumulative total to 834,458 cases or 83.8 per cent with 950 admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 468 needed respiratory aids.
Dr. Noor Hisham said, 27 new clusters had been formed and out of which 15 occurred at the work places involving three in Johor, Kuala Lumpur (3), Selangor (2), Kedah (2), Perak (2), Kelantan (1), Melaka (1) and Pahang (1).
However, he said, seven were community clusters involving three in Selangor, Sabah (1), Kelantan (1), Terengganu (1) and Pahang (1) while the detention clusters were one each in Kuala Lumpur and Johor and one high education institution cluster was formed in Kedah, one high risk group in Sabah and one imported cluster in Johor.
Dr. Noor Hisham also highlighted on the four new clusters that had contributed to the high new COVID-19 cases today. It includes three in Kuala Lumpur namely Jalan Pasar Sentul, Contruction Site with 95 cases, Sungai Bunus Construction Site (75) and Jalan Helang Bukit, Kepong (36).
He added, Dah Industrial Site, Sungai Petani had contributed 82 positive COVID-19 cases.
States contributing to the high new COVID-19 cases today are Selangor with 7,351 and the infectivity rate is 1.15; Kuala Lumpur 2,406 (1.11); Johor 804 (1.19); Sabah 712 (1.17); Sarawak 261 (1.03); Negeri Sembilan 625 (1.04); Pulau Pinang 505 (1.22); Kelantan 502 (1.20); Kedah 867 (1.23); Perak 469 (1.07); Melaka 631 (1.12); Pahang 406 (1.17); Terengganu 267 (1.37); Labuan 30 (0.71); Putrajaya 59 (1.19) and Perlis 7 (0).
Meanwhile based on the latest data on 23rd July 2021, the infectivity rate of COVID-19 in Malaysia is 1.09. –Malaysia World News
