SEOUL: At least 151 people, mostly teenagers and young adults, died at Halloween celebration in South Korea on Saturday night.
The celebration turned to tragedy as partygoers surged through a narrow alley in a popular nightlife district in Seoul, officials said, as quoted by CNN.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident which is still unclear.
Choi Seong-bum, chief of the Yongsan-gu Fire Department, was quoted by CNN saying it was a “presumed stampede” and that many people fell, injuring at least 82.
Among the the dead are at least 19 foreign nationals, including people from Iran, Norway, China and Uzbekistan, he said.
