PUTRAJAYA JULY 15: The Ministry of Health (MOH) stresses that even though the new COVID-19 cases today has recorded 13,215 but 8,047 (60.9 per cent) are from category 1 without symptoms and 4,637 (35.1 percent) from category 2 with light symptoms.
Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the remaining 532 cases (4.0 per cent) are from category 3 till 5. This shows that majority of the positive COVID-19 cases today are from the group without symptoms and light symptoms.
Dr. Noor Hisham said, the new cases have brought the cumulative total to 880,782 with 108,369 active cases while 6,095 cases discharged adding the grand total of 765,800 or 86.9 per cent.
“There were 110 death cases with cumulative total 6,613 or 0.75 per cent involving 95 Malaysians and 15 non-citizens with 885 admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 432 needed respiratory aids,” Dr. Noor Hisham said in a statement here today.
“The new COVID-19 cases had infected 10,845 (82.1 per cent) Malaysians and 2,357 (17.9 per cent) foreigners with 13 imported cases involving seven citizens and six non-citizens,” Dr. Noor Hisham added.
Dr. Noor Hisham also mentioned 26 clusters had been formed and out of which 15 happened at the work places, six in the community, three at the detention centres and two at the high education institutions.
Regarding the states contributing to the new COVID-19 cases and the infectivity rates, Selangor has recorded 6,120 with 1.18 infectivity rate, Kuala Lumpur 1,499 (1.17), Negeri Sembilan 1,603 (1.13), Terengganu 70 (1.40), Putrajaya 53 (1.31), Kedah 695 (1.19), Pahang 222 (1.16), Melaka 484 (1.15), Pulau Pinang 509 (1.10), Sabah 370 (1.06), Johor 599 (1.05), Kelantan 255 (1.05), Perak 344 (1.04), Sarawak 363 (0.92), Labuan 26 (0.84), and Perlis 3 (0).
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s COVID-19 infectivity rate is 1.19.
