PUTRAJAYA: About 12 ministers from Perikatan Nasional (PN) have sent a letter to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong expressing their position that the 15th General Election (GE15) should not be held this year.
According to Utusan Malaysia, Senior Minister of Education, Datuk Dr. Radzi Jidin confirmed that he was among the 12 Ministers who sent the letter.
Radzi, who is also the Vice President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), said the letter was sent yesterday which, among other things, expressed agreement that the general election should not be held in the near future.
“I can confirm that we ministers from PN including Bersatu and Pas sent documents to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. What is most important is that we in PN want to focus on matters related to the welfare of the people first.
“If UMNO has a position to hold elections as soon as possible, then our position is clear that the people should be given priority,” Utusan quoted him as saying in a press conference after the Celebration of the National Language Decade in the Education Sector 2022, here, today.
He said, currently the people are in a difficult period and he himself in the Ministry of Education (KPM) also still has a lot to be done.
