PUTRAJAYA DEC.26: About 2,335 Malaysians had been infected with COVID-19 today being the highest daily record since the pandemic started and this had added to the cumulative total to 103,900 with 20,035 active cases.

Director General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, 11 new clusters have also been recorded today being the highest since the corona virus infections spread into the country.

He said, 874 cases had been discharged adding to the cumulative total to 83,414 or 80.3% from the grand total of cases.
“Kuala Lumpur has recorded the highest daily cases with 728 (31.2%) From that 677 cases (93.0%) are from the clusters and the close contact screen tests of COVID-19 that has been carried out on the ground.

“Selangor has 710 cases (30.4%) and Johor 412 cases (17.6%) from the daily record today,” said Dr. Noor Hisham in a statement here today.
However he said, 308 cases (13.2% ) are related to the clusters in the lock up, immigration detention depot, prisons involving Jalan Harapan Prison (156 cases), Pagar Siput (128), Tembok (8), Sandakan Prison (7), Pagar Bentong (4), Tembok Gajah (2), GK Tawau (1), Kepayan Prison (1) and Kolam Air (1).

Dr. Noor Hisham also said, two death cases were recorded bringing the death toll to 451 cases (0.43% from the total cases).
Meanwhile 108 had been admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) with 50 cases needed respiratory aids.

Until 26 December 2020, there are 483 clusters including 11 new clusters and 268 clusters had ended while 215 active clusters are being monitored by the Ministry of Health (MOH). From that 59 clusters had additional new cases and this includes Jalan Seng Construction Site (232 cases), Tampoi Jaya (218), Jalan Harapan Prison (156 cases).

Meanwhile the 11 new clusters include Jalan Seng Construction Site affecting the district of Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur with 232 cases while the Pagar Siput cluster involves the district of Kota Tinggi in Johor with 129 new COVID-19 cases.

The Plastik Subang cluster occurred in the district of Petaling and Klang in Selangor affecting 111 new cases as of 26th December 2020 while the Halban cluster in the district of Kota Bharu, Kelantan had infected 29 new COVID-19 cases.

On the other hand, the Lis Putih cluster was formed in the district of South West of Penang affecting 24 individuals detected with positive COVID-19 as of 26Th Dec.2020.

Dr. Noor Hisham added, in the Sentosa Residence cluster affecting the districts of South West and North East of Penang, 18 individuals were infected with positive COVID-19 until 26th Dec.2020 while in the Seragam Chepa cluster in the district of Kota Bharu, Bachok and Tumpat in Kelantan, 13 individuals had been detected with the corona virus until 26th Dec.2020.

Meanwhile in the Pagar Bentong cluster in the district of Bentong in Pahang13 individuals had been infected with the corona virus as of 26th Dec.2020 and in the Jalan Asam cluster involving the district of Petaling and Klang in Selangor 13 individuals had been detected with positive COVID-19.

Meanwhile the Sungai Redan cluster in the district of Kluang and Kota Tinggi in Johor had affected 11individuals with positive COVID-19 while in the Semambu cluster in the district of Kuantan in Pahang , 11individuals had also been infected with positive COVID-19.

The states with new COVID-19 cases include Kuala Lumpur with 728 cases, Selangor (710), Sabah (248), Johor (412), Negeri Sembilan (32), Penang (58), Perak (26), Kedah (16), Labuan (16), Sarawak (6), Pahang (19), Melaka (5), Kelantan (540), Putrajaya (3) and Perlis (1). –Malaysia World News
